Stitchlings is run during term time in the side room at the Gathering Place. Projects are chosen by the teachers and everyone works towards the same targets during the 12 weeks at their own pace.

Stitchlings is for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 18 yrs old with an interest in sewing and knitting. There is no need for a prior knowledge of these crafts as teachers are on hand to give plenty of help and guidance. All materials needed are provided.

There is a termly fee of approximately £20, which covers the cost of all materials and facilities. This is normally paid on the first day that they attend. This is excellent value for money of about £1.65 a session and you get to keep your work.

This term the children have been knitting scarves and sewing Easter Bags. They have also learnt appliqué by building up pieces of material and sewing them to make a picture, cross stitch and beadwork, where the beads are sewn onto fabric, again making a picture. The children also made their own stockings to hang up at Christmas!

Stitchlings has an end of term party each term to celebrate finishing their projects and we are also holding tea parties at Easter and other occasions during the year!

There are currently 4 teachers and 10-12 children in Stitchlings so there is plenty of room for new members. If any adults can spare some time as a ‘helper’, your assistance would be appreciated, whether it be every week or only once a month! So if you want to join a friendly group and learn valuable craft skills give Sam a call.
